When you host a website on a server, it works by using the server's shared IP address - a special number which is used to distinguish a device connected to the World Wide Web. The website name which you use for the site is for easy access and convenience of the website visitors, but on a more basic level, their Internet browser connects to the IP address of the server. Because there're far more websites than IP addresses, shared hosting servers use the very same IP for multiple websites even in case they belong to separate users. Even though this does not affect your website performance directly, having a dedicated IP can slightly increase the loading speed of a site, granting it higher positions in search engine results. Such an IP is needed for the setup of an SSL certificate as well, so if you would like to protect the payment or login details that your site visitors submit, you'll need an IP in addition to the SSL.
Dedicated IP Address in Cloud Hosting
We provide dedicated IPs with all our cloud packages
whatever the data center location and you're able to purchase one or several IPs via your Hepsia Control Panel. An extra section will appear as part of your account and you are able to request, delete or view your IPs with a few clicks. You can select how many websites or subdomains will use a certain IP since you can assign one with a couple of clicks to every hostname. To give an example, www.domain.com can be the main site, that uses a server's shared IP, while shop.domain.com can be the subdomain where you offer goods or services on the web and it can have a dedicated IP address combined with an SSL certificate. You can switch the IP that a site uses via the Hosted Domains section where you can also keep track which IPs are in use and which ones are available. You may also set a few of your sites to use a single dedicated IP given that there's no SSL activated for it.
